Working on this album helped me find a way back from a place I don't ever want to go again. It provided me with the outlet I needed for dealing with an array of mental health issues. I hope it finds you well and offers some inspiration to those who have or have had a rough go. The last two years were tough. I lost who I was. I questioned the path I had taken and tried to abandon things I love to try and be a "better adult." Overcoming an illness that had me completely bedridden for months I feel started the rough patch. Until recently my day to day routine was basically wake up, deal with extreme nausea and existential dread, get out of bed, deal with dizziness, get dressed, work, still dealing with nausea and existential dread, go home, try and be creative but rarely created anything, Netflix, blah blah blah. I completely identified with my art and couldn't create anything I was proud of or felt strong about. I was bummed. I was lost. I was desperate for something to get better. My life outside my internal chaos and bad health was quintessentially wonderful. My family, wife and dogs are the greatest things that ever were, my job was decent, my photography jobs were becoming more frequent and I was doing decent financially, but still, I was bummed. I was lost. To make a long story medium :) I changed everything, EVERYTHING about my day to day routine. My health improved immediately. I was able to find my creative spark. The iron was hot and it felt good. It was like being able to breathe again after drowning for 2 years. "I Am Here" journals this chapter of my life and my hopes is that the material helps others dealing with their own tough times. Music always found a way of inspiring me to keep going, be awesome, and seek my greatest potential. I want to pay it forward.
